History
Shah Alam is a state capital of Selangor, Malaysia. It was a replacement after Selangor state government surrendered Kuala Lumpur city to federal government as capital of Malaysia in 1974.

Shah Alam is divided into 56 Seksyen (Sections). Most of the state administrative activities are focused at Seksyen 14 shah Alam. Other supporting commercial activities and amenities are located from Seksyen 1 to Sekyen 13. Kompleks PKNS Shah Alam, Shah Alam Mall (SACC), Concorde Hotel, Carlton Hotel, De Palma Hotel, Grand Bluewave Hotel, Nexus Hotel, Best View Hotel, Stadium Shah Alam, AEON Mall, Giant Stadium Shah Alam and etc. are located in these sections.
Amenities
There are few golf clubs in Shah Alam. Most notably are Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Golf & Country Club, Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, Saujan Golf & Country Club, Kota Permai Golf & Country Club and etc. Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie is actually located at Glenmarie Shah Alam, Selangor, not in Kuala Lumpur.
Although entertainment outlets are initially banned to avoid any vice activities, there is a gradual release of entertainment licences as the city progress and modernise. Today, certain commercial outlets at i City Shah Alam are issued with entertainment licences.

Industrial Areas
Seksyen 15 to 36 is core industrial areas. Warehouse for logistics operation / distribution; and factory for manufacturing and car assembly are located here.
Seksyen U1 is popularly known as Glenmarie Shah Alam. It derived its name from Glenmarie Estate, its predecessor. It is where Hicom Glenmarie Industrial Park, Temasya Industrial Park, Utropolis, KDU University College, Politeknik Shah Alam, Montfort Boys Town are located.
Bukit Jelutong is located at Seksyen U8. It is an upper middle class suburb of Shah Alam, Selangor. It is a well plan township consists of primarily landed residential development with small commercial centre and industrial activities. Its industry was initially catering to aircraft MRO for the nearby Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Subang Airport. Subsequently extended to logistics warehousing, chemical, and hi-tech industries.
